  117.         non-toxic, water-based, fiber-reinforced adhesive-
  118.         sealant; for permanently sealing fabricated joints and
  119.         seams of sheet metal air ducts, UL 181 listed rigid
  120.         fiberglass air ducts, UL 181 listed flexible air ducts,
  121.         and thermal insulation; for repairing damaged and leaking
  122.         air ducts; for sealing conditioned spaces from air
  123.         infiltration.
  124.         1.  Type:  Elastomeric terpolymer emulsion.
  125.         2.  Applied Research Laboratories Listed:  UL 181
  126.         3.  Underwriters Laboratories Listed:  UL 181A-M and UL
  127.             181B-M.
  128.         4.  Solids by Weight:  67 percent, plus or minus 2

  222. PART 3  EXECUTION

  224. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  225.  
  226.     A.  Examine surfaces to receive air duct sealants.
  227.  
  228.     B.  Notify Architect of conditions that would adversely
  229.         affect application of sealants.  Do not proceed with
  230.         application until unsatisfactory conditions are
  231.         corrected.
  232.  
  233. 3.2 SURFACE PREPARATION
  234.  
  235.     A.  Prepare surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's
  236.         instructions.
  237.  
  238.     B.  Remove water, dirt, oil, grease, and corrosion from
  239.         surfaces to receive air duct sealants.
  240.  
  241. 3.3 APPLICATION
  242.  
  243.     A.  Apply air duct sealants in accordance with manufacturer's
  244.         instructions.
  245.  
  246.     B.  Apply to sheet metal air ducts, UL 181 listed rigid
  247.         fiberglass air ducts, UL 181 listed flexible air ducts,
  248.         thermal insulation, and other surfaces where indicated.
  249.  
  250.     C.  Do not thin or mix.
  251.  
  252.     D.  Apply tack coat at rate of 2 gallons per 100 square feet
  253.         (0.815 L/sq. m).
  254. NOTE ** Delete paragraph below if reinforcing membrane is
  255.         not required.

  257.     E.  Embed reinforcing membrane into tack coat.
  258.  
  259.     F.  Apply finish coat at rate of 2 gallons per 100 square
  260.         feet (0.815 L/sq. m).

  262.     G.  Allow drying time as follows:
  263.         1.  Minimum 6 hours when used outdoors if wet weather is
  264.             imminent.
  265.         2.  Minimum 24 hours before using air duct system.
  266.         3.  Additional time as required by air temperature and
  267.             humidity conditions.
